Shadowrocket App Store Guide

Follow the App Store, purchase, device, and restoration sections. Verify the app and purchase record first, then handle installation and initial setup.

This is the Shadowrocket official manual, covering how to get the app from the App Store, what to check, and what each step can and cannot resolve. The quick start guide follows the steps for making your first connection; this page is organized by topic. If you haven't purchased the app, start with Chapter 1. If it's already installed and you're ready to import your own subscription or server details, go straight to the tutorial. This guide does not provide accounts, servers, or subscriptions.

1. Store region and app availability

Distinguish the product page, search results, and purchase eligibility

Shadowrocket is a paid client for Apple platforms, available exclusively on the App Store. Search results, product pages in a browser, and the purchase button on your device each show information about a different step. Search results help you find the app; the product page confirms its identity; whether you can purchase it depends on your current storefront, account status, and device. So “I can’t find it in search” doesn’t necessarily mean the app isn’t available, and opening the page in a browser doesn’t guarantee that your account can purchase it.

The App Store region is primarily associated with the Apple Account used for Media & Purchases. Your device’s physical location, system language, and store region are separate things. Changing the device language to English won’t automatically change the storefront for your purchase account. Seeing a currency in a browser isn’t enough to confirm which storefront is active on your device. Before troubleshooting, note the region shown in the App Store on your device, then check whether the search results match that storefront’s availability.

A regional link doesn't change your store region

This site links to the specified App Store product page. The region segment in the URL indicates the web storefront; it does not change your account's region. The link may open a webpage or hand off to the App Store on your device. After it opens, check the page, currency, and purchase prompts against your current account. If your device says the app isn't available in your current storefront, treat that as availability information. Reloading the link repeatedly won't resolve account requirements.

Search results can also be affected by age restrictions, family controls, and device management settings. Managed devices may restrict App Store access, and child accounts may require purchase approval. These restrictions have nothing to do with the app's protocols or configuration. Importing Config, changing Global Routing, or replacing an existing subscription won't affect App Store search results. Check system and account restrictions first to determine whether installation is possible.

Check each layer to avoid misdiagnosis

Check in this order: product identity, store availability, account eligibility, and device compatibility. First confirm the page is for app ID 932747118. Then check whether the current storefront can access it, whether the account has pending payment or terms prompts, and whether the device meets the compatibility requirements. Verify one fact at a time. If you haven't confirmed an earlier step, don't jump ahead and keep retrying; that can blur separate causes into one vague “download failed” issue.

Keep a note for yourself of the device type, current store region, exact wording of the page prompt, and where the issue occurred. Don't include payment details or account verification information in screenshots. This record makes it easier to tell whether anything has changed when you check again. For a focused guide to search visibility, see How to troubleshoot Shadowrocket missing from App Store search. For the product link, visit the Get the App page.

2. Check your App Store storefront

Check the account used for Media & Purchases

On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your Apple Account at the top, and check Media & Purchases. The system may ask you to authenticate when you open the account details; complete verification in the device's own system interface. Menu names and layouts can vary by system version, so look for the items related to your purchase account and country or region. The key is to check the account used for purchases, not just the profile name shown at the top of your device.

Your device's iCloud services and Media & Purchases may use different accounts. Being able to sync photos or back up your device doesn't prove that the App Store is using the account that originally purchased Shadowrocket. Check both accounts when troubleshooting purchases or restoration. If useful, keep a masked account identifier for your own reference. Don't share full account details or verification information, and don't sign out of all services on your device just to check the storefront.

Read the region without turning the check into a change

Find Country/Region in your account information and note the current setting. Viewing your region and changing it are different actions; this guide doesn't require changing it. If you only want to check your current storefront, read the setting and return. Payment methods, balance, and billing address can be useful clues, but don't use the appearance of a particular payment method as a substitute for the region field. Available options vary by account.

If you really need to change your account region, first review the requirements shown on your device. Account balance, active subscriptions, pending orders, and Family Sharing membership may affect the process. Changing regions can also affect content availability and payment requirements. Don't change regions as a quick download test or switch between storefronts repeatedly just to see whether search results change. Follow the requirements and confirmation prompts shown on your Apple Account page.

Cross-check in the App Store

Return to the App Store, open your account page, and check that the purchase account shown there matches the one you just reviewed. Then check the currency, purchase button, and availability notice on the Shadowrocket product page. If the browser and App Store show different storefronts, use the status for the account currently signed in to the App Store on your device to assess the purchase process. Closing the webpage and reopening the product from the Get the App page can help confirm you're viewing the same listing, rather than an older page in your browsing history.

  1. In Settings, check the account used for Media & Purchases.
  2. Open your account information and read Country/Region without changing anything.
  3. Return to the App Store and check the account page and product listing.
  4. Note whether the prompt concerns region, payment, age restrictions, or compatibility, then go to the relevant section.

If you can't open your account information, first check your network connection, account verification prompts, and whether the device is managed. You don't yet have enough information to determine whether Shadowrocket can be purchased. Don't repeatedly submit payment while the account status is unclear, and don't treat a connection error in the client as evidence of an App Store problem. These issues follow different troubleshooting paths; note the prompts separately so you can address each in the right place.

After checking, you should be able to answer three questions: Which account is making the purchase? Which storefront is it using? What does the product page actually show? If any answer is unclear, installation or purchase restoration will likely produce the same result again. Keep these answers handy before moving on to purchase or restoration. You can then check the same conditions on another device without relying on memory.

3. Verify the official app: developer, icon, and app ID

Verify the app using its identifying details

Shadowrocket is developed by Shadow Launch Technology Limited, and its app ID is 932747118. Before purchasing, check the developer, official icon, and app ID together—not just the name in search results. Apps with similar names or imagery may appear in the same results, and search ranking doesn't verify identity. Open the full product page, check all three details, and then review the price and purchase button.

The developer is usually listed in the product page's developer field or details section. Check the full English name, not just whether it contains a particular word. Expand the relevant section if the name is truncated. Browser translation may change surrounding text, but check the developer's name in its original form. Don't treat a description, search snippet, or name mentioned in a review as a substitute for the official developer field on the product page.

Use the icon as a cross-check, not as proof by itself

The official icon has a white background and a blue-purple outlined design, matching the official icon in this site's header. Compare the overall design, background, and linework; there's no need to zoom a screenshot down to the pixel. The icon is one visible clue, but similar colors alone don't establish identity. If the name and icon look similar, check the developer and app ID too. If the three details don't match, stop before purchasing and reopen the verified product link.

The icon may appear circular or rounded in different places, and device settings can also change how it looks on the Home Screen. Give priority to the official artwork on the App Store product page; don't assume that a change in appearance on your device means the app's identity has changed. This guide doesn't use redrawn icons for identification or rely on an old screenshot to identify the current product. Product identity is more reliable than interface details.

The app ID is the fixed identifier in the product link

In the product link, check id932747118. The region segment and displayed title can vary with your browsing environment, but the app ID remains the same. Open the official app verification section for product details, then visit the App Store. If you keep a note of the result, record only the app name, developer, and ID—there's no need to save account credentials or payment pages.

After verifying the app, check whether the store shows a price, an Open button, or a redownload option. These buttons reflect account and device status; they don't change the app's identity. For example, Open usually means the app is installed on the device, but it doesn't verify the purchase record. If a price appears, consider the current account, Family Sharing eligibility, and purchase history. Verify the app first, then interpret the button to avoid confusion between similar listings.

If you can't verify all three details, don't use a similar price, review count, or search position as a substitute for missing evidence. Return to the Get the App page and reopen the listing to make sure you aren't on a different product page. For a more detailed checklist, see How to verify the developer, icon, and app ID. Once you've completed these checks, move on to the next chapter to review payment and purchase details.

4. Purchase and one-time payment details

Use the payment confirmation screen for the final price

Shadowrocket is sold as a one-time purchase. The US storefront price is approximately US$2.99; the exact amount is shown on the App Store page and payment confirmation screen. Other storefronts display prices in local currency. Don't use a webpage's currency to estimate what your account will be charged, or assume an amount from an old purchase record applies to every storefront today. Before purchasing, verify the app, current storefront, and items shown on the confirmation screen.

When you tap Buy in the App Store, the system will authenticate you according to your account and device settings. Authentication may use biometrics, a password, or another account verification method; follow the prompt shown on your device. Don't infer that a purchase succeeded from a button that briefly changes before final confirmation. If you see a payment completion message, wait for the App Store to update the purchase status, then check your purchase history. This helps avoid submitting the same purchase repeatedly before the status syncs.

Keep the app purchase separate from connection services

A one-time client purchase ≠ a service plan. Purchasing gives you the right to use the Shadowrocket client; it doesn't automatically include a server, subscription content, or related services. To configure the app, you'll need to use your own existing subscription or server details. This site does not provide, sell, or recommend servers or subscriptions. If Home has no available entries after purchase, check whether you've imported your own details instead of assuming that the payment didn't go through.

The word subscription can refer to different things depending on context. App Store subscription management and Subscribe in Shadowrocket, which updates server entries, are separate features. A subscription link in the client is part of your configuration, and its availability depends on the relevant service. It won't be restored automatically by purchasing the app again. When reviewing payment history or troubleshooting an import, first identify whether you're dealing with the app purchase or connection details you already have.

Check the transaction status first if payment fails

If your payment method is declined, you need to update billing details, or your account has a pending item, follow the App Store prompts for your purchase account first. Config, Proxy, and Direct in the client can't resolve payment eligibility. If the page doesn't update for a while after payment confirmation, check your purchase history and any order information provided by the system. A bank notification alone doesn't prove that the app is associated with your current account. Don't repeatedly confirm payment until you've checked the status of the original transaction.

  1. Before purchasing, verify the developer, app ID, current account, and confirmation amount.
  2. Authenticate in the system payment screen and wait for a clear success or failure message.
  3. If the status is unclear, check your purchase history before deciding what to do next.
  4. After installation, follow the tutorial to set up a connection using your own existing details.

Check refunds, billing disputes, and transaction status using the purchase history and relevant options provided by the App Store. This website can't determine an order's outcome on Apple's behalf, and a failed client import shouldn't be attributed to a payment issue without evidence. Keep your own order records for reference, but hide personal information when describing the issue to someone else. To distinguish an app issue from a payment issue, the most useful question is whether you can install and open the app—not whether a connection succeeds.

A one-time purchase doesn't determine compatibility on every device independently of the product page. iPhone and iPad are the primary devices; compatibility and Universal Purchase availability on Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision are as listed on the App Store page. Before switching devices, check its current compatibility and purchase details instead of assuming that a purchase on another device guarantees compatibility. For a short summary of the price and one-time purchase, see the purchase guide.

5. Install on iPhone or iPad and open the app for the first time

Check compatibility and device requirements before installing

Expand the compatibility details on the product page and check the system requirements for your device; the App Store page is the source of truth for specific requirements. Being able to browse the store doesn't mean your device meets every app's requirements. Also check available storage, device access restrictions, and whether your network can complete the App Store download reliably. If the system says an update is required, address the device's system requirements first; don't confuse that with updating a subscription in the app.

On iPhone, after purchasing or confirming that you've already purchased the app, let the App Store install it. Wait until the icon is ready to open, then launch Shadowrocket. Waiting, pausing, or network prompts during the download are App Store or system issues; you don't need to configure Global Routing beforehand. If the Home Screen icon still shows progress, check its status in the App Store. Seeing the icon doesn't necessarily mean installation is complete or that you have the details needed for your first connection.

First launch and VPN configuration permission

On first launch, confirm that you can open Home, then follow the quick start guide to add your own existing subscription or server details. Add Server for entering parameters and Subscribe for importing details are different options; choose the one that matches your information. Don't use your app purchase credentials as a server password, and don't enter the App Store product link as a subscription URL. Purchase history confirms your app entitlement; connection details explain how to connect. Neither can replace the other.

The first time you try to connect, the system may ask for permission to add a VPN configuration. This is a device-level permission required to establish a connection, not another payment confirmation. Confirm that the prompt was triggered by your action and shows the expected app name, then follow the system prompt to allow or decline. On a managed device, an organization may control this permission. Follow the device management requirements rather than repeatedly deleting system settings to try to bypass restrictions.

iPad and the limits of configuration details

On iPad, check that the account used for Media & Purchases is the same one that made the original purchase. Even with the same account, confirm purchase eligibility against the product's compatibility and current store listing. The iPad layout may differ from iPhone, and split-view positions can change with window size, but identify interface terms such as Home, Config, and Settings as they appear in the app. Look for the feature name rather than tapping based only on a button's location on another device.

After installation, check which configuration is selected in Config, then choose whether Global Routing uses Config, Proxy, or Direct. The following is only a syntax example, not a complete configuration file, and contains no server details. The PROXY policy in the example must be interpreted in the context of your own valid configuration; copying this snippet into a blank setup won't create a working connection.

[Rule]
DOMAIN-SUFFIX,example.com,PROXY
IP-CIDR,192.168.0.0/16,DIRECT,no-resolve
GEOIP,CN,DIRECT
FINAL,PROXY

Rules are matched in order. The example checks a specific domain first, then handles local network addresses and a geographic match, and finally uses FINAL for requests that haven't matched. Choose rules based on your own needs and configuration. Successful VPN authorization only means the system allows the corresponding connection; it doesn't validate the rules, confirm that a server is online, or ensure a subscription is still active. For post-connection checks, see Connectivity Test and connection checks.

During initial setup, make only the necessary changes. Confirm one understandable connection path before adjusting other settings. Avoid enabling several automatic behaviors at once; if something goes wrong, it will be harder to identify the cause. Concise device guides are available for iPhone and iPad. For connection issues, continue with the tutorial rather than repeating the App Store purchase process.

6. Switch devices, reinstall, and restore purchases

Handle purchase restoration and configuration restoration separately

When switching devices or reinstalling, distinguish the app purchase from configuration details stored in the app. Purchase eligibility is linked to the Apple Account used for the original transaction. Existing server entries, subscription URLs, rule files, and selected settings are client data. Being able to redownload the app doesn't mean that this data will necessarily be restored. Likewise, having a saved Config file doesn't replace the App Store purchase entitlement. Before restoring, list the specific items you need to recover.

If the original device is still available, first check that your own details are backed up reliably and that you can identify the subscription and Config you're currently using. Backups may contain subscription URLs, server credentials, or other sensitive information; store them somewhere you control. Don't upload screenshots containing complete details to public pages or send your entire configuration to explain an installation issue. For supported backup or sync options, check the features currently available in the app.

Look up the original purchase account

On the new device, open your account page in the App Store and look for sections related to apps, purchased items, or purchase history. Menu names and locations vary by system version, so look for the option to find apps you've previously obtained. Confirm that Media & Purchases is using the original purchase account, then search for Shadowrocket. If it appears, open its product page, verify the app, check compatibility and the redownload option, then follow the prompts.

If you can't find the record, first check whether the original purchase was made using another one of your accounts, then check for hidden purchases. Installed apps, purchased apps, and billing history aren't the same lists; a missing result in one place doesn't prove that you never purchased the app. Use your own order information to check the account and app name, but don't switch accounts repeatedly based on memory. Confirm the current status before each change so device data syncing issues don't get mixed up with App Store purchase restoration.

Pause before confirming if a price appears again

If the product page shows a price again, don't assume you must pay a second time. First verify the developer and app ID to rule out a similar listing; then check the purchase account, original order status, Family Sharing eligibility, and current storefront availability. A displayed price is a reason to investigate, not a complete record of purchase history. If the purchase was refunded or its status changed, rely on your purchase history and the current App Store prompts rather than assuming the entitlement is unchanged.

  1. Check that the original purchase account matches the current Media & Purchases account.
  2. Look in purchased apps, hidden purchases, and purchase history.
  3. Open the product page for app ID 932747118 and check device compatibility.
  4. After restoring the app, restore and check your own configuration details separately.

Once the app has been reinstalled, open Home to check for server entries, then check the configuration files in Config. If your details haven't been restored, import them again from your own backup or existing records. If they are present, check their update status, the selected item, and Global Routing instead of assuming that the new device matches the old one exactly. Network conditions, system permissions, and on-demand connection settings may differ between devices, so verify the setup again after restoring data.

Don't delete the app from your original device to test purchase eligibility before confirming that your data can be restored. Deleting the app may affect local data, and won't make the purchase record any easier to verify. A safer order is to confirm the purchase in your account, install the app on the new device, and then check each configuration item. For a short workflow, see the purchase restoration guide. If Subscribe is empty after restoration, see Troubleshooting failed subscription imports or an empty server list.

7. Family Sharing: requirements and limitations

Check the product listing before checking Family Sharing settings

Whether Shadowrocket supports Family Sharing, and the scope of that support, is as shown on the App Store page. One family member's purchase doesn't automatically mean that every device and account is eligible. First check the product listing for Family Sharing details, then review your family group, purchase sharing settings, and account status. Product support, family settings, and member eligibility are related but separate conditions; check each one.

Family Sharing isn't the same as using one purchase account on several of your own devices. The first involves individual accounts in a family group and its sharing rules; the second depends on the same account's purchase entitlement and device compatibility. Identify which applies before looking for the right settings. Don't assume that a family member being able to open the app proves your account can redownload it. Check what your own App Store page shows.

Check the family member, purchase, and device in turn

In the Apple Account section of Settings, open the family-related settings. Confirm that you're in the expected family group and check that purchase sharing is enabled if you need it. Menu locations may change between system versions; follow the instructions shown on your device. If you see an Ask to Buy or other approval prompt, the designated person in the family settings must handle it. Waiting for approval is part of the purchase process; changing rules in Shadowrocket or reimporting a subscription won't resolve it.

Next, look for the app under family purchases in the App Store. If Shadowrocket isn't listed, check separately whether the purchase is hidden, which family member made the original purchase, whether Family Sharing is supported for the app, and whether store region requirements are met. Check one condition at a time. Don't leave the family group or purchase the app again just because it isn't in the list yet. Those actions can affect other services and may not address the actual cause.

Sharing an app purchase doesn't share configuration

Even if you're eligible for Family Sharing, don't assume that server parameters, Subscribe URLs, Config files, or connection history in the app are shared automatically. Each person should use details they're authorized to use and complete system permissions and connectivity checks on their own device. Sharing an app purchase doesn't expand the permitted use of a subscription. For the terms governing connection details you already have, check the relevant service; this guide doesn't recommend sources.

CheckWhat to confirmLimitations

Family accountMembership, purchase sharing, and approvalsFollow the prompts shown on your device
DeviceCompatibility, access restrictions, and installation permissionsPurchase eligibility doesn't replace device requirements
Client dataYour own subscriptions, servers, and ConfigManage separately from app purchase eligibility

Recheck eligibility if family membership, purchase sharing settings, or the original transaction status changes. A successful download in the past doesn't prove that eligibility is permanent. If the product page and family purchase list show different information, note the exact wording from both, then check that you're using the same purchase account, app, and device conditions. For account issues that need further attention, use the support options in the App Store and system Family Sharing settings rather than repeatedly testing client configuration.

After installing through Family Sharing on a new device, follow the same setup sequence as a regular installation: open the app, import your own details, allow the system VPN configuration if needed, check Global Routing, and test the connection. The family organizer's payment status and a member's ability to connect are separate processes. Keeping them separate helps you avoid mistaking a network timeout for a Family Sharing issue—or changing purchase settings for the whole family to fix a connection problem.

8. Troubleshooting search, downloads, and post-install issues

Identify the problem before repeating the entire process

First identify whether the problem occurs during search, payment, download, launch, or connection. Search issues usually involve the storefront or access restrictions; payment failures involve the account and transaction prompts; stalled downloads involve the system network, storage, or store status; and connection failures after opening the app involve your server details, permissions, or rules. Each stage has a different place to troubleshoot. Breaking “it doesn't work” into a specific symptom is the first step to avoiding repeated purchases and unnecessary data deletion.

If search returns no results, search for the full app name, Shadowrocket, then open the product page from the verified guide to getting the app. If the page still says it's unavailable in your region, go back to Chapter 2 and check the storefront for your current purchase account. If your device has age or content restrictions, review Screen Time and related settings. For managed devices, check the management policy. Don't assume that the results on another device should also appear on this one.

Downloads stuck or the app won't open

If the download progress hasn't changed for a long time, check whether the App Store shows Paused, Waiting, or a specific error. Then check available storage and your network connection. If the system lets you pause and resume, confirm the status and try once rather than repeatedly tapping. If your account needs verification or you need to accept terms, handle that prompt first. If multiple App Store downloads are affected, investigate the system and account instead of changing settings just for Shadowrocket.

If the app is installed but won't launch, note whether it closes immediately, remains on the launch screen, or shows a system compatibility alert. Try opening it again, and restart the device using its normal procedure after saving any other work. To check for an update, open the current product page in the App Store. Before deleting and reinstalling, consider whether you can recover local data. Don't make reinstallation your first step if you haven't confirmed that your subscription URLs and Config files are backed up.

If the app opens but can't connect, troubleshoot the client

If you can open Home, the App Store installation is usually complete. Check whether you have a valid server entry, whether the correct item is selected, whether the system VPN configuration is allowed, and which mode Global Routing uses. Config relies on the rules in the selected configuration; Proxy routes traffic according to the corresponding proxy mode; Direct doesn't mean the server has been verified. For an explanation of the modes, see the Global Routing guide.

If Subscribe updates fail or an import leaves the list empty, first confirm that you're using your own valid subscription URL and that it was copied in full. Subscription URLs may contain sensitive information; don't post them publicly. Then check your service status, update timing, and the app's prompt. Avoid repeating the same update several times in quick succession. Successful import doesn't guarantee that every entry can connect, and Connectivity Test results don't replace checking the destination and which rules apply.

The App Store says “Open.” Do I still need to purchase the app?

Open the app to check its status on your device, then check your purchase history if needed. “Open” means the app is already on your device; it isn't a request to pay again and doesn't prove that your configuration was restored.

The server list is empty after switching devices. Should I purchase the app again?

First separate purchase eligibility from client data. If you can install and open the app, look for your own backup or reimport your existing details. Purchasing again won't restore an empty list.

Can I use my purchase on another Apple device?

Check device compatibility, system requirements, and Universal Purchase on the same App Store product page. Use the details shown there; don't assume compatibility based on a successful installation on another device.

If one round of checks doesn't identify the issue, write down the minimum useful details: device type, stage where the problem occurred, exact prompt, confirmed store region, and steps already tried. Don't include full account or payment details, subscription URLs, or server credentials. For purchase issues, return to the App Store order and account options. For connection issues, see connectivity checks and the Subscribe steps. Change one condition at a time and check the result before continuing so you can track what you've verified.
